Steps for a successful project: 1. Choose famous person that's made a POSITIVE impact.
2. Find at least 2-3 sources with information about your person. These sources can be books, magazine articles, reliable websites, interviews, documentaries, videos, brainpops, etc.
3. Take notes on your person as you READ about them. Use the note sheet we modeled in class.
4. Timeline - Be sure to find 5 significant events. Go beyond their birth and death. What events during their life were important? You need to describe these events in detail for your report. Include dates. Here's one optional program you can use to help organize your events. www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/timeline_2/
5. Characteristics - As you read about your person, how would you describe them? Choose 4 adjectives (use juicy words!) that best fit your person. You need to back these up with text evidence in your own words. Justify why they are that characteristic.
6. Desktop Items - Infer what items your person would keep on their desk. Don't choose obvious items like pencil and paper. Look for personal items that apply specifically to your person. Make sure each item has an explanation of WHY it would be on their desk based on text evidence!
7. Compare/Contrast - Once you know your person well, compare them to yourself! Focus on meaningful characteristics (not physical ones). What traits do you share? What hobbies, dreams, or hardships have been the same or different? Your sentences should be detailed and show multiple similarities and differences.
8. Cause/Effect - Almost everyone has experienced some type of hardship in their lives. You want to find at least 1 hardship your person has endured and explain the effect it's had on their life. Make sure to use text evidence to describe the hardship and its effect in detail.
9. Get dressed! You are going to become your famous person on October 31st. Use props (if you wish) and articles of clothing (that you can create) to impersonate your famous person.
